Elias Yazdanshenas is a US citizen and an accomplished Mechanical Engineer with a passion for innovation and creative problem-solving in the thermo-fluids field. With a strong background in designing and executing experimental and numerical projects, Elias has made significant contributions to the aerospace industry. He currently serves as the CEO of Saviorin Space, a pioneering company focused on advancing space exploration and technology.
With extensive experience in thermal analysis, Elias has led projects such as the Human Lander System (HLS) thermal environment, flow analysis inside combustion burners, two-phase flow systems, cryogenic systems, and more. His expertise in Python, MATLAB, ANSYS, Thermal Desktop, Siemens, and COMSOL Multiphysics enables him to model and solve complex engineering problems effectively.
Elias possesses exceptional leadership skills, evident in his ability to lead diverse teams to successful project completion. His interpersonal skills allow him to communicate clearly and effectively with individuals at all levels of an organization and with external clients. Whether working independently or collaboratively, Elias excels in building strong teams and fostering a productive work environment.
Known for his outstanding oral and written communication abilities, Elias is skilled in presenting complex technical concepts with clarity and precision. He is meticulous in his documentation, ensuring accurate and comprehensive records for future reference.
Education-wise, Elias holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Old Dominion University, where his research focused on microfluidic Kelvin water droppers and electrowetting applications. He also obtained an MSc. in Mechanical Engineering from the same institution, studying Triboelectric Solar Cells for solar energy conversion. Earlier in his academic journey, Elias earned a BSc. in Mechanical Engineering from Azad University of Semnan Branch, with a thesis on experimental investigations of a shell and tube heat exchanger for solar heat energy storage using Phase Change Material (PCM).
Throughout his professional career, Elias has held various roles of increasing responsibility. As a Part-time Faculty member at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, he taught Dynamics courses to bachelor students. He also served as a Senior Thermal Design Engineer at JBS Solutions Inc. and as a Dynetics Inc contractor, where he was involved in modeling two-phase flow systems and optimizing hardware performance.
Elias's exceptional skills led him to NASA's Marshal Space Flight Center, where he worked as a Thermal/Fluids Analyst. In this role, he modeled and analyzed flow networks, cryogenic systems, and various components for Space Launch System (SLS) programs. Elias was a valuable member of the NASA CDR board and contributed to the review and compliance of critical documents.
Prior to his NASA experience, Elias worked as a Project Engineer at Senior Aerospace SSP, focusing on thermal analysis and stress analysis for aircraft components. He also served as a Consultant at MOMENTUS Space Inc., where he developed a two-phase feeding system for spacecraft.
Outside of his professional commitments, Elias actively engages in extracurricular activities related to his field. He was Vice President of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) at Old Dominion University, a member of the International Solar Energy Society and the American Solar Energy Society, and served as the President of ODU-Persia (Persian International Student Association).
